There’s a warmth and texture in vintage film that digital captures often miss. I specialize in emulating the characteristic looks of classic film stocks—like the muted pastels and subtle greens of Kodak Portra, the rich contrast of Fuji Superia or the faded, nostalgic tones of old family slides.
The work format includes a brief call (20 minutes) to discuss your desired film look, followed by written communication via shared folder. To begin, you provide your photos and reference images showing the film aesthetic you want. Send me up to 20 photos per batch. Within 3-5 days, you’ll receive each photo back in three formats: fully graded JPGs, the adjusted DNG files and a custom Lightroom preset crafted from your gallery.
This process goes beyond a simple preset. I replicate film’s non-linear contrast response, its unique highlight roll-off and the subtle color shifts in shadows and midtones. I also add grain that matches the film type and ISO, applied in a way that feels organic, not digital. This preset captures the core of the look so you can apply it to future sessions while maintaining your signature style.
This approach resonates deeply in wedding and portrait photography because it evokes emotion and timelessness. Clients often describe film-like images as feeling more ‘real’ or ‘authentic.’ It helps tell a warmer, more personal story. I’ve studied the chemical processes of film to understand how to recreate its behavior digitally. The result is a grade that feels nostalgic and tactile, giving your photos a heirloom quality that stands apart from overly crisp, digital trends. It works for photographers who want to offer a distinct, artistic style that clients can’t easily replicate with phone apps. We’ll base the final look on your creative direction, whether that’s the sunny, faded glow of 70s prints or the crisp, cool tones of 90s fashion film.
